HBC-4 Fields Fill in Record Time

February 24, 2009

As anticipated, entries for HBC-4 came flooding in the moment that on-line registrations opened up on Monday morning, January 19th at 8 AM. By 8 PM that same evening, the 50 VTO field had filled, with the 50 Angler field filling the following evening at 8 PM.

“We pretty much knew that HBC-4 would fill quickly, but we had no idea that the VTO field would fill first,” notes HBC co-founder and director Ron Cervenka. “The VTO response was overwhelming, which is very exciting to see. I mean, what better way to learn some of the secrets of the best trophy bass anglers in the country than spending a day on the water with them? These (VTOs) are in for a real treat,” Cervenka adds.

Entries into HBC-4 were only accepted on-line through the HBC website. “Taking entries on-line is the only way to get an exact date and time stamp on when the entry was submitted, and I mean right down to the second. Scott Harvey, my statistician and IT guy, developed the HBC’s on-line registration program and it worked flawless. We had some entries come in within seconds of one another and even though we did not have to use the time stamp for the 50th spot for either field, we could have if we needed to,” says Cervenka.

HBC-4 will take place on Friday, March 13, 2009 at Lake Don Pedro in the heart of California’s Mother Lode Country. It will once again feature its popular and original One-fish, Big-fish, Winner-takes-all format, with the angler catching the largest bass receiving $10,000. The HBC-4 champion will also receive a custom, hand-crafted champion belt valued at over $1,000.

Waiting list entries are still being accepted for both Anglers and VTOs. Although we cannot guarantee that those on the respective waiting lists will get in, there are usually a few Angler and VTO cancellations prior to the event. Those interested in being placed on the waiting list can do so by clicking on the “HBC-4 Sign-up” button on the HBC website and filling out the appropriate entry form.
